Summary

A revolutionary approach to enhancing productivity, creating flow, and vastly increasing your ability to capture, remember, and benefit from the unprecedented amount of information all around us。

For the first time in history, we have instantaneous access to the world’s knowledge。 There has never been a better time to learn, to contribute, and to improve ourselves。 Yet, rather than feeling empowered, we are often left feeling overwhelmed by this constant influx of information。 The very knowledge that was supposed to set us free has instead led to the paralyzing stress of believing we’ll never know or remember enough。

Now, this eye-opening and accessible guide shows how you can easily create your own personal system for knowledge management, otherwise known as a Second Brain。 As a trusted and organized digital repository of your most valued ideas, notes, and creative work synced across all your devices and platforms, a Second Brain gives you the confidence to tackle your most important projects and ambitious goals。

Discover the full potential of your ideas and translate what you know into more powerful, more meaningful improvements in your work and life by Building a Second Brain

Great philosophy of how to get organized and pull it back out - when and where you need it。 Once you do some analysis of your style, information you have, and what you want to do with it, you'll be able to find the best system for you。 Some trial and error of course。 Good information。 Great philosophy of how to get organized and pull it back out - when and where you need it。 Once you do some analysis of your style, information you have, and what you want to do with it, you'll be able to find the best system for you。 Some trial and error of course。 Good information。 。。。more

The practices in this book have the potential to really change your life for the better。 I'm hoping to stick to them。 The book however at times feels a bit longer than it needed to be。 The concepts are laid out in a way that allows it to be universal, regardless of which tools are used。 For hands-on walkthroughs you'll need to rely on his online resources。 The practices in this book have the potential to really change your life for the better。 I'm hoping to stick to them。 The book however at times feels a bit longer than it needed to be。 The concepts are laid out in a way that allows it to be universal, regardless of which tools are used。 For hands-on walkthroughs you'll need to rely on his online resources。 。。。more

A very useful techniqueBuilding second brain should be easy via PARA and CODE。 But there are no hard rules But guiding rails。 I definitely felt there is room to organizing information right way。 Will surely give it a try。

I didn’t get this book at all, i do digital journaling, digital planing and notion as my daily activity。 I do my activity at least every day for this past two years, most of the idea like “Sync all our data across device” and such, it’s just to lack of content 😭 My advice is watch youtube such: Thomas Frank, Ali abdaal, etc。 They even provided us for notion template for free and how we use it as our digital planner。

There are some interesting ideas here, and the methods explained can be used successfully to enhance one's digital life。 But, as with almost every self-help book, this one could have been one really good article, and it would have been enough。 The examples get boring really quickly, and the last third feels like random self-help pop knowledge that every one knows at this point。 I am using his method and enjoying though, so not a complete waste of time。 There are some interesting ideas here, and the methods explained can be used successfully to enhance one's digital life。 But, as with almost every self-help book, this one could have been one really good article, and it would have been enough。 The examples get boring really quickly, and the last third feels like random self-help pop knowledge that every one knows at this point。 I am using his method and enjoying though, so not a complete waste of time。 。。。more

I really liked this book。 It’s got two main ideas - how we collect and distill information for future use and how we can organize our digital information。 The applications for these techniques go way beyond the world of work but can also include hobbies and personal projects。

I feel I'm on the verge of getting negative returns from consuming productivity/self-help content。 It has largely been a procrastination exercise from my studying obligations, but now it honestly feels like a colossal waste of time。Anyway, since I have already read the book, it doesn't hurt to write a short review about it to warn you—my fellow comrades looking for a superior force to take you over and relinquish the pain of having to do things you don't want to do—that there's nothing revolutio I feel I'm on the verge of getting negative returns from consuming productivity/self-help content。 It has largely been a procrastination exercise from my studying obligations, but now it honestly feels like a colossal waste of time。Anyway, since I have already read the book, it doesn't hurt to write a short review about it to warn you—my fellow comrades looking for a superior force to take you over and relinquish the pain of having to do things you don't want to do—that there's nothing revolutionary here, this is mostly an updated version of Getting Things Done by David Allen。 Actually, this shouldn't even be a book in the first place: a medium-length blog post or a one-hour talk on the subject would've sufficed。"Your mind is for having ideas, not holding them" – David Allen The premise of the book is that we should nurture an external system for storing and developing our ideas。 Because we live in a society that's increasingly automating tasks and replacing human labour with intelligent machinery, knowledge work has become more valuable in the economy。 However, how do we deal with all the loads of information that come our way every day? According to Tiago's revolutionary approach, we need。。。an external, systematic way to organise our ideas。 How insightful! The book is centred on C。O。D。E。 (Capture, Organise, Distill, and Express) and P。A。R。A。 (Projects, Areas, Resources, and Archives), which are two GTD-style frameworks that incorporate digital tools to help us make sense of information。 (I hate acronyms。) To make great use of our second brain, we need to (1) capture whatever resonates with us, (2) organise our digital data by actionability (this is where P。A。R。A。 kicks in), (3) distil our notes to their essence, and (4) express ourselves to the general public。BASB draws parallels to the Zettelkasten method (see How to Take Smart Notes by Sönke Ahrens) and to Andy Matuschak's "evergreen note-writing" but with a more business-focused manner。 In fact, if you happen to be in academia, it's definitely a better use of your time to check out these two other sources than BASB itself。 Speaking of school, I should probably go back to studying and put my primary, real brain to use。。。 。。。more

It was on my "pile of shame" for ages, and I've finally decided to do something with that :)First of all, I wish someone would have given me this book (or rather - such a book) when I was starting my professional career。 Or even starting studies at the university。 Why so? I think the book provides a very gentle start, but even in such a short form it was possible to add some more content (ideas, ways of organizing, concepts - e。g。 network graphs, bi-directional linking, etc。)。 。。。more

Definitely worth a read, recommend it 100%。 This is now one of my favorite books。 I'm implementing the ideas I've just read, and life is different now that I've started to use note-taking to organize my thoughts。 It's difficult though。 Tiago Forte introduces the concept of personal knowledge management and its potential to fundamentally change my thought process, but it's still up to me to put these ideas into action。 It's a bit of a tedious process but I have never before been as excited about Definitely worth a read, recommend it 100%。 This is now one of my favorite books。 I'm implementing the ideas I've just read, and life is different now that I've started to use note-taking to organize my thoughts。 It's difficult though。 Tiago Forte introduces the concept of personal knowledge management and its potential to fundamentally change my thought process, but it's still up to me to put these ideas into action。 It's a bit of a tedious process but I have never before been as excited about taking notes! This is the book I read with excitement and worries at the same time。 I've been waiting for the book & pre-ordered it since it was announced。 As a fan with a squeezed pocket, it's impossible for me to join the 'Building a Second Brain' course, so the book is such a breeze to my burning curiosities of Second Brain。 On the opposite, I was also afraid that I put my expectations too high and fall flat after reading it。 Thankfully, it doesn't happen。 As a breakthrough and rising star in the Personal This is the book I read with excitement and worries at the same time。 I've been waiting for the book & pre-ordered it since it was announced。 As a fan with a squeezed pocket, it's impossible for me to join the 'Building a Second Brain' course, so the book is such a breeze to my burning curiosities of Second Brain。 On the opposite, I was also afraid that I put my expectations too high and fall flat after reading it。 Thankfully, it doesn't happen。 As a breakthrough and rising star in the Personal Knowledge Management area/industry, Tiago Forte put a very promising offer about Second Brain。 A system that could accompany us, freed us from the 'mundane' job of our brain: to remember & store data or information。 So you could use the brain for other things meaningful to us such as creating, imagining, and enjoying life as is。 Who doesn't compelled to? In the book, Tiago explains the principles, frameworks, habits and mindsets needed to apply and integrate the Second Brain into our daily life。 I'm glad that it's really focusing on the core of the Second Brain and not muddled up too much with the 'tools' (which is easily distracting the readers)。 I also like the supplements that are given on the website, as an extension of the book。Reading the book brought me some new insights on how to improve my own Second Brain and realise a fresh perspective to use it。 If you're interested in Personal Knowledge Management, this book is a must。 。。。more

If you don't have a second brain, this book is a good read。My personal PKM (Personal Knowledge Management) preferences are quite different from Forte's, though。 I don't think Second Brains should be actionability-oriented。 In my opinion, they should be a thinking environment, which doesn't always has to focus on results and projects。 If you don't have a second brain, this book is a good read。My personal PKM (Personal Knowledge Management) preferences are quite different from Forte's, though。 I don't think Second Brains should be actionability-oriented。 In my opinion, they should be a thinking environment, which doesn't always has to focus on results and projects。 。。。more
